PFI supplies custom ESD foam inserts and anti-static foam packaging that protect electronics, PCB assemblies, and aerospace components from both static discharge and physical damage. We stock anti-static, static dissipative, and conductive foams, cut them to the exact shape of your part, and pair them with a matching box so you receive a complete, ready to pack kit. Tell us what you ship, and we match the foam to your part, your ESD program, and your budget.

We give you everything you need to ship and store static sensitive parts in one order:
Each ESD foam works differently. Some slow charge buildup, some bleed it off gradually, and some carry it away quickly. We recommend the right type for your parts, how they move, and where they are stored.
A closed cell PE foam treated with an anti-static additive that keeps it from building up charge through friction. It gives you an affordable, low charging cushion for boards, cables, and assemblies handled inside your ESD protected area.
A soft open cell foam with the same low charging treatment. It conforms around irregular shapes and delicate components, making it a strong choice for lid liners and top pads that press gently on parts.
A carbon filled closed cell PE foam that carries static charge away from your part. It resists moisture and puncture, holds its properties over time, and suits repeated handling, returnable totes, and longer storage.
A carbon filled open cell foam that cushions lightly while it conducts. Engineers use it to hold pins and leads on ICs and small components, and as a soft lining for sensitive modules.
A fine cell XLPE foam with a clean finish and a controlled dissipative range. It suits aerospace parts, medical electronics, and high value assemblies where you need both a professional look and dependable static control.
Pre-scored ESD foam blocks that you pluck by hand to fit your part. It gives you fast, low cost protection for prototypes, repair returns, and changing product lines while you finalize a custom die-cut design.
ANSI/ESD S541, the ESD packaging standard, sorts materials by surface resistance. Lower resistance moves charge faster. The table below summarizes the ranges in that standard and typical values published by foam suppliers. We confirm exact values from the data sheet for the specific foam on your order.
Foam type | Classification | Typical surface resistance | Best use |
Pink anti-static PE and PU | Low charging (anti-static) | About 10^9 to 10^13 ohms, varies by supplier | In-plant handling, short term storage, low cost cushioning |
Static dissipative XLPE | Dissipative | 1 x 10^4 to below 1 x 10^11 ohms (S541 range) | Direct contact with sensitive parts, aerospace and medical electronics |
Black conductive PE | Conductive to dissipative | About 10^4 to 10^9 ohms per square | Long term storage, returnable packaging, rugged handling |
Black conductive PU | Conductive | About 10^4 ohms per square | Holding IC leads, soft liners for small components |
Skip sourcing foam and boxes from separate vendors. PFI builds matched sets so your team opens one carton and packs.
Slotted or cavity ESD foam inserts in a corrugated box sized to your board count, with top and bottom foam pads to hold boards upright and apart.
Die-cut conductive or dissipative foam inserts in a sturdy mailer or RSC box, built for sensors, drives, controllers, and power supplies.
Dissipative XLPE inserts with a clean finish, packed in a heavy duty box or case for high value avionics and flight hardware.
Conductive foam inserts cut to fit your plastic totes or bins for repeated in-plant moves and supplier loops.
Send part dimensions, a drawing, or a sample, along with any ESD program or customer requirements. We recommend the foam type that fits.
We design the insert and box together, then build a prototype you test with your real part before any production run.
We cut your ESD foam to tight tolerances and assemble it with the matching box, so each kit arrives ready to pack.
We inspect every order, then deliver next day across Southern California and ship free nationwide through our distribution network.
We match anti-static, dissipative, or conductive foam to your part and ESD program, so you avoid over or under spending.
You get complete foam and box sets from one supplier, one PO, and one delivery.
We design and prototype your insert at no cost, so you confirm the fit before you commit.
Save 15% to 40% compared to national suppliers, with next day SoCal delivery and free nationwide shipping.
We provide local next day ESD foam delivery across Southern California:
Multi-location and out of state electronics manufacturers ship from our nationwide distribution centers in CA, TX, IL, PA, TN, and GA, so every facility receives the same ESD foam packaging.
Anti-static foam resists building up a charge when it rubs against parts. Dissipative foam slowly and safely bleeds charge away. Conductive foam carries charge away quickly. We recommend the right type based on your parts and how you handle, ship, and store them.
Most PCB assemblies do well with dissipative or conductive foam inserts that hold each board apart. For short in-plant moves, pink anti-static foam often works and costs less. We review your board size, quantity, and shipping route and recommend the best fit.
It can. Pink foam relies on an additive that becomes less effective over time and in very dry air. For long term storage or repeated use, black conductive or dissipative foam holds its properties longer.
Foam controls charge at the surface, but it does not fully shield parts from an outside static field. When parts leave your ESD protected area, pair the foam with a static shielding bag or a shielding outer package.
